ULBREC History

During the 1950-1970 period the Company developed a wide range of products for the petrochemical industry.

Industry in Australia was expanding repidly during this time and the ULBREC (Trade name) products became "the standard" for the petroleum, petrochemical and chemical companies throughout Australia and the South Pacific region.

Over time Ulbrich built a reputation for providing "what the Customer wants" with flexibility of design and manufacture which enabled the customer to obtain a "modified standard product" tailored to suit their specific needs.

Filtration became the mainstay of the Company's technology and a range of products, particularly Strainers became the core products, these were supplemented with Ulbrec Sand Filters and Carbon Columns.

In later years Ulbrich took on the Distributorship in Victoria of American Machine and Foundary Co., CUNO Filtration products, now known as Cuno Pacific Pty. Ltd. This range of filter cartridge housings and disposable media became an instant success, due to the complementary nature of the products together with the well known filtration knowledge of Ulbrich in the market place.

In the early years of growth Ulbrich recognised the need for diversification and the necessity for adding new products to the range.

With this as a company strategy, Ulbrich obtained the Australian Agency rights to market side entry mixers manufactured by Jensen International Inc. of Tulsa, Oklahoma, USA. Jensen Mixers were recognised, worldwide as the best in their field of petroleum bulk tank sludge control and blending. This Agency has now been extended to include South East Asia and the South Pacific.

To add to this technology, top entry mixers and agitators were developed to complement the Jensen equipment and round out the range. These mixers are manufactured to suit the customers specific application so as to produce the most efficient and economical units for the job.

A range of Tank Fittings, mainly for the Petroleum Industry, have been part of the product group for many years and with the recent addition of flame arrestors, manufactured in plant, meant an expansion into a much wider segment of the process industry requiring safer controls within their production systems.
